It's a movie that doesn't know what it wants to be, and the why behind the confusion is a tale we've heard before. The creators wanted it to be a darker movie, the studio wanted it to be family-friendly. So we get Problem Child, a movie that isn't quite The Omen, but you can see how it was inspired by it.
